Government officials in Punjab are reviewing a plan to hire 1,600 headmasters for public schools, offering a fixed monthly wage of Rs. 150,000.
This initiative follows the recent recruitment of intern teachers, as officials now look at a comparable method to address empty leadership roles in schools. The hiring strategy, pay rates, and employment terms are still being evaluated and require official clearance.
Applicants would need to clear an exam administered by the Punjab Public Service Commission under this draft system. Successful candidates would then face interview panels prior to receiving job placements at various educational institutions.
Initial appointments for these school heads would last for two years during the first phase. Officials retain the option to prolong these agreements depending on work evaluations.
Insiders note that over 2,000 public schools in Punjab currently lack permanent headmasters, and this hiring drive aims to fill 1,600 of those empty slots.
Decision-makers must obtain official sanction from the cabinet committee before initiating the employment procedure.
The strategy lacks final approval at this stage. Job openings, monthly compensation, and agreement conditions rely on clearance from designated officials.
