The Punjab government is drafting a law that would ban vaping and e-cigarettes throughout the province, aiming to shield young people from nicotine addiction.
Sources say the draft will be reviewed with the police, health department and district administration, and will include tight limits on selling, using and advertising the devices.
Officials added that a comprehensive legal framework to stop the purchase and sale of vapes is also being weighed, with enforcement planned once the bill is finalized.
The intended legislation seeks to keep minors from obtaining nicotine products and will set up penalties for anyone who breaches the rules.
According to sources, coordination among the relevant agencies has already started to ensure the ban can be applied effectively.
