Pakistan captain Shaheen Shah Afridi became the nation's quickest fast bowler to claim 150 One Day International wickets on Sunday, October 25, during the tri-series clash with England at Lahore's Gaddafi Stadium.
The 26-year-old left-arm pacer marked the achievement in his 80th ODI, dismissing England opener Tom Banton in the opening over, with Arafat Minhas completing the catch. That wicket represented his 150th in the 50-over format.
Shaheen overtook the earlier Pakistani fast-bowling record held jointly by Waqar Younis and Shoaig Akhtar, both of whom needed 91 matches to reach the same tally.
Nevertheless, he remains behind former off-spinner Saqlain Mushtaq, who reached 150 wickets in just 78 matches, making Mushtaq the fastest Pakistani bowler overall.
On the global stage, Shaheen now shares the fourth-fastest position with Afghanistan's Rashid Khan and India's Mohammed Shami, each also achieving the mark in 80 matches. Nepal's Sandeep Lamichhane holds the overall record, having done so in 73 ODIs.
