A suspected medical malpractice case emerged at Tehsil Headquarters Hospital located in Chunian, Kasur, following reports that medical staff left a towel inside a patient's abdomen during an operation.
This case came to public attention after the patient grew sicker and doctors moved her to Lahore General Hospital, where an ultrasound scan found the foreign object.
Surgeons at Lahore General Hospital carried out a second procedure to take out the towel, according to the patient.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz alongside the deputy commissioner of Kasur intervened after learning about this event.
