Tottenham forward Richarlison picked up three penalty points after driving a hired Corvette supercar through a red light in North West London. The 29-year-old Brazilian player, who has not featured for the senior side since a 3-0 opening-day loss to Brentford in August, was caught by an automated traffic camera.
Photographs captured a Chevrolet Corvette Stingray passing a stop light in Hendon during April. Information from the camera system indicated the signal had been red for 1.5 seconds when the automobile passed the stop line.
Judicial documents reveal the vehicle belonged to a rental agency rather than Richarlison, prompting officers to initially issue the prosecution notice to the car hire company. Officially named Richarlison de Andrade, the athlete missed the deadline to complete a driver awareness course that would have prevented the points.
Metropolitan Police charged him last month, and he entered a guilty plea, accepting three points on his driving record. Barkingside magistrates slapped the £75,000-a-week footballer, a resident of Hadley Wood, with a £200 fine on October 19, alongside £120 in costs and an £80 victim surcharge.
Richarlison transferred to Spurs from Everton in July 2022 for a fee of £60million. Roberto De Zerbi excluded him from the 25-man Premier League squad for the current campaign after potential transfers fell through.
The forward previously stated he failed his initial UK driving theory examination because he found roundabouts difficult. Last year, colleague Pape Matar Sarr recorded video footage of him jumping out of a Corvette and striking the bonnet of his Mercedes following a honk. Richarlison shared the video on social media with the caption, Tag your friend who has no patience in traffic!
