NHS data proves Yorkshire has outranked other regions to claim the title of Britain's top area for erectile dysfunction medication, with East Yorkshire leading the nation by supplying pills to 3.58 per cent of its male population.

That figure sits at more than double the rate recorded in Leicester, which stands at 1.49 per cent as the area with the fewest prescriptions.

East Yorkshire encompasses Hull alongside towns like Goole, Beverley and Bridlington.

North Yorkshire places fourth with 3.25 per cent, while Barnsley in South Yorkshire takes fifth spot at 3.23 per cent.

Northern regions dominate the upper rankings, with Dorset serving as the sole southern location in the top ten at seventh place with 3.21 per cent.

Additional areas seeing high prescription rates include Northumberland, County Durham, South Tyneside, Fylde and Wyre in Lancashire, and Wirral, Southport and Formby on Merseyside.

Lower down the rankings are London, Cambridgeshire, Thurrock in Essex, Stoke-on-Trent, Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes.

During 2025, 775,000 men across England, representing roughly one in 40, received 4.79 million erectile dysfunction prescriptions totalling a cost of £19.7million. Sildenafil, which is the generic version of Viagra, remains by far the most requested option.

National Health Service records also highlight record numbers of men over 80 receiving erectile dysfunction medications, which includes one individual aged 103.

Urologist Gordon Muir stated, "ED can be a forerunner of serious illnesses, so it's vital to report symptoms."
