Gerwyn Price, 41, announced he must step away from all exhibition appearances for the rest of 2026 and throughout 2027, citing personal reasons as he balances his PDC career with running a newly purchased farm and preparing to become a grandfather.

The former World Champion climbed back to World No.4 in the PDC rankings following strong performances in recent months. Price intends to keep competing in major PDC tournaments, but his attention has shifted toward off-stage responsibilities after buying a farm during the summer and anticipating a new grandchild in the New Year.

MODUS Sports Management and MDA Events released a joint statement confirming his withdrawal. The companies stated that Gerwyn Price will miss all scheduled events for the rest of 2026 and any non-PDC appearances in 2027 due to personal reasons. They noted that while supporters will be disappointed and ticket-holders may feel frustrated, they respect his choice and have already organized and notified replacement players.

Price issued an apology for the sudden cancellations and expressed hope that supporters would understand. He stated he needs a break from non-PDC commitments for the foreseeable future and thanked MODUS and MDA for their backing and understanding, adding that he hopes to collaborate with them again later.

The announcement follows a semi-final defeat at the European Darts Championship on Monday, where world No.14 Ross Smith eliminated Price despite Price averaging 93.69. Writing on social media after the loss, Price mentioned he would return to farm work within hours and joked that he would have lost the final anyway, calling it another great weekend for him.
