State authorities and the State Bank of Pakistan received a call from the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry to lower the policy rate into single digits so that business activity and economic growth can find support.

Sheikh, president of the FPCCI, stated that reduced borrowing expenses would enable small and medium-sized enterprises, large-scale manufacturers, and traders to invest in technology, grow value-added production, and rival regional competitors. Furthermore, he cautioned that elevated interest rates drive up debt-servicing expenses for private borrowers and the government, compounding fiscal strain and limiting economic expansion.

Economic policymakers, the federal government, and the central bank were urged by the business organization to pursue a growth-focused monetary policy, match interest rates with regional standards, and engage with the business sector prior to launching policies that directly impact economic operations.
