Hollywood star and lifelong Huddersfield Town supporter Sir Patrick Stewart has passed away at the age of 86 after dealing with Alzheimer's disease.
Known globally for his roles in Star Trek and X-Men, the Yorkshire native was last photographed smiling while watching Huddersfield Town play Crawley in 2024.
Regarded as the most prominent backer of the club, he supported the team from the age of seven.
In an interview with Sky Sports, Patrick stated, "I've been a fan for 70 years. I get the same rush when I walk up the steps of any stadium, no matter where it is."
Huddersfield Town shared a sorrowful statement calling Patrick "a titan of his craft and a legend and hero to millions worldwide".
The club added, "Fiercely proud of his Yorkshire roots, Sir Patrick was a Terrier in every sense, and we're proud to have counted him as one of our own."
A spokesperson for the actor, Kelly Bush Novak, confirmed he passed away at his Los Angeles home beside his wife Sunny following a brief experience with Alzheimer's disease and Lewy body dementia.
Novak stated, "He has been held in the warm embrace of family and friends, surrounded by live music, prayer, tears, laughter and the kind of profound emotion that only he could inspire after a lifetime of devotion to us all."
His acting career on stage and screen lasted for more than 60 years.
During his life, he earned honours including a Grammy and two Olivier awards, and Queen Elizabeth II knighted him in 2010 for services to drama.
