Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz stated on Friday in Lahore during the introduction of the Punjab government PIVOT program that ignoring the source of investor capital forms part of Mian Nawaz Sharif heritage, promising she will not interrogate anyone bringing commerce to the region.

“If you are bringing business, I would not ask where you are getting the money from,” she stated.

Federal Rules Still Apply

The provincial leader noted she remains restricted by regulations, policies, and statutes directed by the central administration.

“If it were up to me, I would not want to ask anyone who comes to do business where they are bringing the money from,” she stated.

No New Taxes in Punjab

Maryam Nawaz mentioned that Punjab avoided introducing fresh levies over the prior two and a half years, labeling this a tough accomplishment while noting the administration grew the tax base and net.

She criticized the Federal Board of Revenue method for heavily taxing existing taxpayers.

“If someone is paying Rs. 1,500 today, make it Rs. 2,000. If someone is paying Rs. 2,000, make it Rs. 10,000, and if someone is paying Rs. 10,000, make it Rs. 20,000,” she stated regarding the method.

The leader noted that a massive portion of the undocumented economy escapes attention.

The Federal Board of Revenue faces pressure to expand taxation under reform strategies.

Push for Business Activity

The Punjab leader mentioned her administration aims to boost commerce and cut administrative delays, noting approximately Rs. 200 billion in loans were disbursed through the regional business loan initiative.

She additionally noted Punjab trained roughly 400,000 skilled laborers and intends to train an extra 600,000.
