Manchester United recorded nine games without a victory for the first time in 37 years after a 2-0 loss at Chelsea placed Michael Carrick in a precarious position.
Missed chances, poor defending, a red card for Lisandro Martinez, and a loud away section mean Carrick could lose his job before the international break.
Second half goals by Morgan Rogers and Cole Palmer, sitting between two disallowed offside goals from Estevao, handed United their seventh defeat in 13 matches.
Xabi Alonso's team moved up to fourth place in the Premier League standings, while United sit 16th and might drop into the bottom three by Sunday evening.
Here is how SunSport reporter Katherine Walsh rated the United players at Stamford Bridge.
Senne Lammens - 5
His poor displays have escaped attention due to the larger crisis. He was rescued by Estevao's offside goal and beaten by a dink from Rogers.
The aging defense does not help his confidence, bringing the total to 24 goals conceded in 13 games this season alongside zero clean sheets. He did punch and catch another ball to prevent further embarrassment.
Leny Yoro - 5
Following a major error last week, the last thing the young player wanted was a match against last season's trouble in Rogers.
The former Aston Villa player dominated Yoro in both fixtures last term, though the United youngster performed better during the first half prior to being caught upfield when the England player scored.
Harry Maguire - 4
Reliable defensive work collapsed entirely when Pedro Neto caught him in possession, though the opponent failed to convert. It was extremely sloppy.
He stepped up too high and missed Rogers completely as his opponent ran through the center for the opening goal. A vital header cleared another Chelsea attempt off the goalline.
Lisandro Martinez - 2
He let his teammates down and was ignored by Carrick while walking off. It was a complete loss of composure from a player reportedly seeking an exit. He received a red card for two yellow cards within FOUR minutes during a crucial match, following a reckless elbow on Wesley Fofana that gave away a penalty.
He publicly criticized poor recruitment this month, which seems ironic given his own dismal performance. He was also out of position for the goal by Rogers, who targeted him constantly until his red card just past the hour mark.
Diogo Dalot - 5
Filling in at left back, he endured a difficult afternoon against Brazilian talent Estevao.
He failed to control a spinning ball ahead of Estevao's disallowed tap-in due to an offside earlier in the sequence. He remained steady until halftime.
Carlos Baleba - 4
He lost the midfield battle against the player he replaced from Brighton. Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia contested every challenge, with Lavia stealing the ball to set up Rogers.
He tries hard but looks clumsy in possession with awkward clearances. I remain unconvinced by the prominent summer midfield signing.
Andrey Santos - 5
The Brazilian put in a solid performance during his return to Stamford Bridge following his £50m summer transfer. He came close to scoring early on when a long-range shot missed the post by inches.
Bruno Fernandes - 4
Returning to the starting lineup, his casualness in possession hurt United and created numerous counterattacks and opportunities for Chelsea. A single world-class pass is insufficient under these conditions.
The struggling captain was dispossessed repeatedly throughout the match. Low confidence caused him to blast an opportunity over the bar during a swift counterattack.
Amad - 6
As United's most energetic player, he caused problems down the right flank by pressing Marco Palestra and Wesley Fofana to win possession and start attacks, though his finishing proved disastrous.
His previous United goal happened on December 14 against Bournemouth, and he could have scored a hat-trick during the first half in West London.
Matheus Cunha - 5
He worked hard for Carrick in the first half and had a goal disallowed for offside in his first Premier League start since September 10.
Bryan Mbeumo - 6
Another forward lacking a clinical touch. His excellent through ball on the counterattack should have been converted by Fernandes.
That represented United's finest attacking move of the match, before he struck a 30-yard volley against the crossbar during stoppage time.
