Spain's football association halted Wednesday's Copa del Rey lineup after a deadly railway disaster occurred in Toledo.
At least 50 individuals died and 179 suffered injuries when a pair of high-speed trains crashed into each other between Los Yebenes and Urda.
Video footage displayed smoke rising from the crash site where two passenger cars derailed from the railway linking Madrid with southern Andalusia.
The Royal Spanish Football Federation stated that all 24 fixtures in the domestic tournament are delayed while the nation mourns.
An official statement from the RFEF said: "OFFICIAL. Today's Copa del Rey matches have been suspended."
The statement continued: "As a sign of respect and solidarity with all the victims of the tragic train accident that occurred early Wednesday morning in the province of Toledo, the RFEF (Royal Spanish Football Federation) has suspended all 24 matches of the first round of the Spanish Championship-Copa del Rey (King's Cup) originally scheduled for this afternoon and evening."
It added: "The RFEF will announce the revised tournament schedule and the final times for the postponed matches in the coming days."
The governing body also stated: "The great Spanish football family remains united in grief over this tragedy, offering its support to the authorities to help the victims of this devastating accident."
Five top division clubs were scheduled to play on Wednesday, including Valencia, Celta Vigo, Real Betis, Levante, and Alaves.
Authorities have not yet clarified the status of the 14 fixtures planned for Thursday.
Thursday's lineup includes other prominent clubs such as Athletic Bilbao, Sevilla, and Getafe.
