A well-known water attraction in the UK is shutting down for the winter season, with operators confirming it will remain closed until next year.
Waterworld situated in Staffordshire functions as an indoor tropical waterpark maintained at 30C throughout the year, featuring an outdoor pool that operates during summer.
Operations within the waterpark zone will halt starting tomorrow because of extensive modernization projects.
Wayne Goodall, who serves as the managing director of the waterpark, stated, "At its heart, Waterworld offers families a place to spend time together, escape from everyday life and enjoy that holiday feeling, whatever the weather."
He added, "The upgrades we have planned are set to build on that sense of fun and enhance the way we tell our story, creating a more immersive experience for our guests."
He also noted, "We can't wait to reveal more about the upcoming investment soon."
Specific details regarding the improvements remain scarce, though officials verified that operations will resume by early 2027.
This project follows previous improvements, including a £13million overhaul completed in 2024.
Promoting itself as the leading tropical indoor aqua park in the country, Waterworld features 30 different rides.
Among these attractions is Thunderbolt, known as the first trap-door drop waterslide in the UK, alongside a water rollercoaster named Nucleus.
Visitors can also access indoor and outdoor swimming pools, wave machines, and river rapids.
Only the waterpark section is scheduled to shut down.
The 18-hole tiki-themed Adventure Mini Golf facility will stay open to the public, along with the Adventure Mini Village launched in 2023.
Established initially in 1989, the waterpark attracts approximately 400,000 visitors annually.
