Tottenham are set to miss out on a huge windfall following Harry Kane's Ballon d'Or win, after failing to include a bonus clause when he joined Bayern Munich.
The prolific striker, 33, became the first Englishman in 25 years to get his hands on the coveted award earlier this week.
But Tottenham, who pocketed £104million after flogging Kane to Bayern three years ago, will not profit from the stunning achievement.
Spurs arranged to secure additional funds if their legendary marksman guided the Bundesliga giants to Champions League or domestic glory.
But Sky Sports Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg reports Tottenham did not add a Ballon d'Or bonus clause.
It means Bayern are not in line to pay Spurs an additional fee after Kane beat the likes of Kylian Mbappe and Lamine Yamal to the individual gong.
The major blunder will come as a blow for Tottenham chief Roberto De Zerbi, who made Sandro Tonali the most expensive signing in the North Londoners' history during a summer spending spree.
Mateus Fernandes, Jan Paul van Hecke and Savio were also big-money arrivals before the transfer window slammed shut.
European heavyweights have regularly included lucrative Ballon d'Or clauses when negotiating deals for huge names.
And extra cash would have been welcomed by Tottenham supremos following their pre-season splurge.
But Spurs chose to follow in fierce rivals Chelsea's footsteps after they decided not to include a Ballon d'Or bonus payment when Mykhailo Mudryk arrived from Shakhtar Donetsk.
Kane now has a sensational trophy haul after leaving Tottenham without any silverware.
The England skipper, who partied into the early hours after his Ballon d'Or triumph, has spearheaded Bayern to two Bundesliga titles, a couple of Franz Beckenbauer Supercups and the DFB-Pokal.
And Kane has already notched ten goals in 12 appearances as he wins more honours with Bayern this season.
A free-scoring start to the campaign has allowed the former Leyton Orient loanee to take his tally to 156 strikes for the Bavarians.
Kane left Tottenham as their record goalscorer, having found the net 280 times.
