As a primary agency responsible for managing water and power resources in the country, the organization regularly updates its workforce to maintain operational efficiency. Qualified applicants from across the nation are expected to compete for these permanent slots, which offer structured career progression within the public sector.

Candidates from minorities, recognized tribes of tribal areas, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir are eligible for three additional years. Government and WAPDA employees who have completed two years of continuous regular service by the closing date are eligible for 10 years of relaxation.
