Aston Villa are launching legal action against television pundit Jamie Carragher due to his unacceptable insults directed at the club and supporters. Nassef Sawiris, who serves as the club co-owner and chairman, revealed this development on social media through a brief statement published late on Friday night.

The move comes after Carragher made controversial comments about Villa followers while discussing Manchester United. During an appearance on the Stick to Football programme, Carragher suggested that United should pursue manager Unai Emery and claimed that the Spaniard would accept the position if Michael Carrick departed.

During the broadcast, Carragher told supporters to shut the fuck up and stated that Aston Villa will never be Manchester United. These remarks caused considerable anger internally at Villa Park, prompting Sawiris to confirm that management will challenge the comments.

Sawiris stated, "Aston Villa will initiate legal action against Jamie Carragher for his unacceptable insults about the club and its fans. Aston Villa will not allow anyone to stop our ascension in English and European football."

Earlier in the week, Carragher praised Emery as an unbelievable manager but argued that a coach with such success should naturally want to manage a giant club again. He mentioned that clubs operate in a hierarchy where larger teams take players and managers from those below them.

Meanwhile, Emery attended the Ballon d'Or awards and stated that he feels comfortable at Villa Park. Having spent four years in charge, he holds complete control over football operations, a level of influence he would likely lack at Old Trafford. Emery recently stated his intention to secure Champions League qualification every season, and his rebuilt squad is preparing to face Fulham at Villa Park.
