PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari urged a "full stop" to the discussion on forming new provinces, stating that Sindh's citizens have already made their choice.

Addressing reporters at Spencer Eye Hospital in Karachi's Lyari on Tuesday, alongside Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, Bilawal noted the Sindh Assembly had reiterated its position "at least seven to eight times now."

"The people here can determine the fate of this province and the city. I think we should close this topic because the people themselves have closed it," he said.

He answered a query about pressure on the PPP regarding new administrative units and a potential rollback of the 18th Amendment. When asked if the government had discussed a 28th constitutional amendment with him, he replied, "No."

Karachi Needs Federal Attention

Speaking on the clash between the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation and Pakistan Railways, Bilawal said the federal government must focus on Karachi, which he described as the nation's economic hub.

The conversation on new provinces started in July after Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi suggested a dialogue among parties on governance reforms.

MQM-P has since called for a separate province for Karachi, while the PPP firmly opposes it. In September, the Sindh Assembly adopted a resolution rejecting any move to split the province.
