On Monday in the provincial assembly, officials disposed of a resolution that demanded the prompt eradication of the Sardari system in Balochistan along with a prohibition on using the titles Nawab and Sardar.

Jamaat-i-Islami MPA Hidayatur Rehman Baloch introduced the measure. Yet, Speaker retired Captain Abdul Khaliq Achakzai told the assembly that examining legal and judicial files revealed that parliament already passed and enforced laws ending the Sardari system across the nation in 1976.

The speaker additionally mentioned that the Balochistan High Court delivered rulings regarding the Sardari system, and the Federal Constitutional Court affirmed them on March 6 this year. Because of these current legal and judicial facts, the speaker dropped the resolution.

A session of verbal jabs then occurred between Mr Rehman and Opposition Leader Mir Younis Aziz Zehri, while treasury lawmakers backed the opposition leader.

Parliamentary Secretary Agha Umer Ahmedzai stated that the Sardari system persisted for millennia, asserting that a single person lacked the authority to brand the entire institution wrong. Parliamentary Secretary Nawabzada Zarain Khan Magsi stated that debate on the topic ought to stop since the assembly had already disposed of the resolution.

The speaker stated that the assembly should listen to Mr Rehman's point because the JI MPA wanted enforcement of the laws created to end the Sardari system. Still, legislators adjourned the meeting until November 10 because quorum requirements were not met.
