Google has rolled out new tools for Gemini that allow people to preview and modify files straight inside the application. The recent update applies to spreadsheets, presentations, documents, PDFs, code, and various other file types.

File generation was initially added to Gemini by Google back in April. That capability enabled individuals to produce Markdown files, PDFs, Google Sheets, and Google Docs. Modifying those documents previously demanded exporting or downloading them first.

That restriction is fixed now. Individuals can view generated documents inside Gemini and alter them without exiting the software. Users are also able to expand documents to full screen for direct content modifications. Furthermore, Gemini permits people to select specific text and inquire about it. Individuals can ask for visual or textual alterations, polish material, or pose additional questions concerning the file.

Platform support differs, though. Mobile applications and the web both support PDF editing and previewing. Alternative formats like code files, Markdown, TXT, slide decks, Google Sheets, and Google Docs remain restricted to the web version right now.

According to Google, the updated functions begin reaching all Gemini users today. Every language supported by the application also includes access to these features.
