Starting in the 2027 academic year, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government will roll out the National Curriculum of Pakistan 2026 for grades 9 through 12, requiring all schools to use authorized textbooks.

Instructions regarding the updated curriculum rollout came from the Directorate of Curriculum and Teacher Education, and the KP Private Schools Regulatory Authority told private institutions throughout the province to follow these rules.

Grades 9 to 12 will study English, Urdu, Mathematics, Computer Science, Chemistry, Biology, and Physics under the updated framework. General Science is limited to grades 9 and 10.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Textbook Board will draft or update books to match the new standards, and educational boards will base their exams on the updated syllabus.

Before schools can receive these books, the Directorate of Curriculum and Teacher Education must approve the materials produced under the revised system.

Principals received orders from the Private Schools Regulatory Authority to study the guidelines and complete all necessary updates ahead of the 2027 school year.

Officials cautioned that institutions ignoring these rules risk legal consequences under the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Supervision of Curricula, Textbooks and Maintenance of Standards of Education Act, 2011.

Publishers, textbook boards, and schools must all revise their educational content and testing preparations to align with the new curriculum requirements.
