Manchester United defender Lisandro Martinez received two yellow cards in the space of 82 seconds and was ignored by manager Michael Carrick after conceding a penalty during a match against Chelsea.
Trouble mounted for Carrick as his players struggled once again. Morgan Rogers previously broke through the United defence to score the opening goal, before Martinez committed a rash challenge.
While his team was behind, the defender made a wild challenge on Wesley Fofana during a corner kick. Given that he had received a yellow card only moments before, many expected him to exercise caution.
Following a review by VAR, a penalty was given and the Argentina international received a red card. As he walked off the field, the embattled manager refused to look up.
With ten men on the pitch, United allowed a third goal, though an offside flag spared them and denied Estevao for a second time during the match.
Facing a streak of ten games without a victory, Carrick finds himself under intense pressure.
