LPG prices continue to be steep across Pakistan, with rates in several locations ranging from Rs. 600 to Rs. 650 per kilogram, despite the arrival of two cargo vessels from Oman.
Local market data shows the fuel selling for Rs. 550 per kg in Karachi, Rs. 570 in Peshawar, and Rs. 600 in Attock, Islamabad and Rawalpindi. In Quetta, the price dropped by Rs. 30 to Rs. 520 per kg.
In Lahore, LPG shops stayed shut for a second day in a row because of a strike.
The two cargo ships from Oman docked at Pakistani ports on Sunday, sparking hopes for lower prices, but most markets have not seen a notable decline.
The surge has pushed the cost of LPG cylinders above Rs. 10,000 in some areas, while an 11kg domestic cylinder now costs Rs. 6,500 in Islamabad and Rawalpindi. The official LPG rate is Rs. 279.34 per kg, yet consumers are paying far more amid supply shortages and limited enforcement.
