Almost 15 years after its debut, Minecraft remains a leading game. On October 27, Mojang will officially roll out the much-awaited Minecraft Nintendo Switch 2 edition, bringing the title to Nintendo's latest console and reaching new players while rewarding long-time fans.
Vibrant Visuals & Mario Content
The Switch 2 version arrives with notable graphical upgrades, including the new Vibrant Visuals update that makes the blocky world look more striking. Players will also have full marketplace access to content that uses Vibrant Visuals.
In addition, Nintendo enthusiasts will find a special bonus: the Super Mario Mash-Up pack is included from day one, offering 15 distinct music tracks and 40 classic player skins inspired by the Super Mario series.
Minecraft Nintendo Switch 2 Edition Pricing
Mojang lists the Switch 2 edition at $29.99. Yet many existing fans can obtain the new version at no cost if they meet a single requirement: only those who bought the digital edition of Minecraft on the original Nintendo Switch qualify for the free upgrade. Physical-copy owners must purchase the game at full price.
The free-upgrade window is limited; eligible digital owners need to claim their copy before the end of January 2027.

Future Expansions
Minecraft continues to rely on yearly updates to stay relevant. Despite its age, developers plan major content drops soon. Later this year, Mojang will add a new Ice Caves biome, and next year the game will receive a brand-new dimension called the Sift, the first new dimension in 14 years.
