Daily adjustments for petrol and diesel prices are now official policy under the Federal Government. The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority began updating ex-depot rates every twenty-four hours starting July 17, 2026. Authorities adopted this severe step to protect the domestic economy against extreme market swings.

Consumers face higher costs under the latest figures. The price for Motor Spirit, known as petrol, went up, while High Speed Diesel also became more expensive.

Motor Spirit rose from Rs. 377.71 to Rs. 379.25, marking an increase of +1.54. High Speed Diesel climbed from Rs. 393.66 to Rs. 395.82, showing a difference of +2.16.

These daily adjustments will remain unchanged during weekends (Saturdays and Sundays) and public holidays.

This new pricing policy stems from the most severe global energy disruption since the 1970s. The 20th-century conflict dynamics repeated as the 2026 US-Israel war on Iran sparked a worldwide fuel shortage. Shipping through the Strait of Hormuz stopped when Iran blocked the route in late February. Approximately 25% of global seaborne oil trade normally moves through this vital maritime passage. The United States responded by placing a heavy naval blockade on Iranian ports.

A short ceasefire brought brief optimism in June, but that truce fell apart on July 8 after fresh attacks hit commercial ships. Iran shut down the strait once more, prompting the US military to carry out continuous airstrikes to reopen the channel. Ongoing fighting and blockades keep stopping global oil deliveries, forcing the regulatory authority to make daily changes at the pump.
