Pakistan Railways CEO Muhammad Hafeezullah inaugurated a modernized 20-coach Karakoram Express at Lahore Railway Station, bringing new travel amenities for commuters commuting between Karachi and Lahore.
Four travel categories are available on the service, consisting of AC Sleeper, AC Business, AC Standard, and Economy. Private-sector partners operate the train to enhance passenger services and upgrade onboard amenities, according to a representative.
Daily departures for the Karakoram Express are scheduled at 3 PM from both Karachi and Lahore. Stops along the route include Raiwind, Sahiwal, Khanewal, Bahawalpur, Rohri, Nawabshah, Hyderabad, Landhi, and Drigh Road.
Travel time between Lahore and Karachi takes roughly 19 hours.
Commercial management of the service was transferred to private operators by Pakistan Railways to raise service quality and offer riders a more comfortable journey.
Onboard amenities provided to travelers include bottled water, freshly cooked meals, bedding, phone charging ports, Wi-Fi, and media entertainment.
Special complimentary services are also offered for travelers booked in AC Sleeper and AC Business compartments.
