On Friday, the Punjab government sanctioned Rs. 1.10 billion to acquire advanced CT scanners for three prominent public hospitals, aiming to enhance diagnostic capabilities and upgrade medical care throughout the region, the Health Department reported.

The Health Department announced that Rs. 500 million was cleared to buy a whole-body multi-ultra-fast CT scanner dedicated to heart examinations at the Punjab Institute of Cardiology situated in Lahore.

An additional Rs. 300 million was greenlit to swap out the old CT scanner inside the Emergency Department at Lahore General Hospital for a modern 128-slice unit, alongside another Rs. 300 million designated to purchase a 128-slice CT scanner for Benazir Bhutto Hospital located in Rawalpindi.

Administrative green lights for all three medical projects were issued by Punjab Health Secretary Azmat Mahmood.

Health Secretary Azmat Mahmood noted that following the direction of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the provincial administration is rolling out major public welfare healthcare programs costing billions of rupees.

He restated the administration's dedication to delivering superior medical care and advanced diagnostic equipment to residents across Punjab.
