The directorate stated that the updated document uses a modern electronic chip alongside Near Field Communication technology to enhance the defense of personal and biometric data.
Additional security elements include laser engraving and a refreshed layout built to increase protection and complicate forgery attempts.
Faster identity confirmation and smoother immigration processes will accompany the rollout of this travel document.
Automated checks at e-gates are supported by the electronic capabilities, which may allow qualified passengers to clear immigration faster and cut down on time spent waiting in standard lines.
Authorities also plan to curb identity theft through the system, as checking the biometric and personal facts of a passport owner becomes simpler.
Data encryption compliant with guidelines established by the International Civil Aviation Organization is included in the document, according to the directorate, to raise the security and trustworthiness of Pakistani travel papers.
