On Tuesday, the Pakistan Stock Exchange recorded an increase of 1,428.74 points, fueled by market reactions to a 50-basis-point interest rate increase by the State Bank of Pakistan alongside falling global oil prices. The benchmark KSE-100 Index finished the session at 164,467.20 points, marking a 0.88 percent gain from the prior close of 163,038.47.
Trading began on a strong note, with the index jumping past 1,100 points during early trading and peaking at an intraday high of 164,787.67 points. General buying momentum extended into automobile, banking, energy, cement, pharmaceutical, fertilizer, and insurance sectors, which bolstered overall market results.
Confidence among market participants grew after the central bank pushed the policy rate up to 12 percent. At the same time, global crude markets dropped roughly 1 percent on expectations of a diplomatic end to the US-Israeli war on Iran, reducing worries about possible supply interruptions. Brent crude changed hands at $114.81 per barrel, while US West Texas Intermediate sat at $100.88 per barrel during early trades.
