New Images Reveal £500M UK Indoor Water Resort Plans
Fresh visual renderings have been released for Therme Manchester, a massive indoor water resort taking shape in the United Kingdom. Scheduled to open in 2029, the £500 million development promises a tropical escape featuring a consistent 33C temperature, extensive indoor spaces, and lush outdoor environments.
The latest promotional materials detail various zones of the complex, highlighting the scale of the glass-domed building and its surrounding landscape. Officials confirmed that construction on the first pool is due to start next week, marking a major milestone for the long-awaited TraffordCity project.
Where Is Therme Manchester Located?
The massive project occupies a 28-acre site in TraffordCity, a major retail and leisure district located just outside central Manchester. The newly published images show how the glass-domed structure integrates with local transportation and waterways, including a public plaza connecting the resort directly to the Bridgewater Canal.
Visitors will be able to sit by the canal just metres from the main entrance. Another architectural rendering shows the front of the complex where the local tram network will run past, ensuring transit links for visitors arriving from across the region.
Previous development blueprints included two multi-storey car parks. However, project planners have now scrapped those structures in favour of spreading parking across the entire site to preserve open sightlines and views across the resort.
What Attractions Will Be Inside the Glass Dome?
The facility is designed to offer a blend of recreation and wellness, divided into three distinct zones named Play, Restore, and Relax. The entire complex will house 10 pools, 18 waterslides, and 20 saunas and steam rooms, alongside extensive green spaces featuring hundreds of palm trees.
The Play zone targets families, offering numerous water features, a pool, a beach setting, lounging areas, and family dining options. The Relax zone operates as an adults-only space focused on premium wellbeing experiences, equipped with indoor and outdoor pools, waterfall showers, mineral baths, steam rooms, saunas, and casual dining.
The third section, known as the Restore zone, provides a second adults-only area. This space specializes in industry leading health, nutrition, and wellbeing therapies, complete with sauna rituals, experience showers, wellbeing consultations, and specialized dining.
Outdoor Spaces and Environmental Design
Beyond the indoor water park attractions, the development places heavy emphasis on nature and botanical surroundings. Newly released imagery showcases extensive outdoor green spaces and a wellbeing garden surrounding the main structure.
The landscape architecture incorporates varied gardens with raised areas and a dense collection of palm trees, blending the tropical indoor atmosphere with the exterior environment. Public access areas outside the ticketed zones aim to create a community hub alongside the water.
Partnerships and Expected Visitor Numbers
Economic projections estimate that the completed attraction will draw two million visitors each year once doors open to the public in 2029. This influx of domestic and international tourism is expected to support the local economy in TraffordCity and the wider Greater Manchester area.
To support visitor accommodation and travel logistics, the organization recently announced a partnership with Marriott International. Under this agreement, Marriott Bonvoy members will receive access to exclusive travel and stay packages linked directly to Therme destinations, including the upcoming Manchester location.
