Apple revealed on Tuesday its new 14-inch MacBook Pro equipped with the latest M6 chip. The device promises up to 24 hours of battery life and adds support for Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6. It starts at $1,999 and is offered in space black and silver.
The company also unveiled an iMac powered by the same M6 processor, a day before the "Pro and Tell" event set for Wednesday. Earlier on Monday, Apple had announced a new iPad mini.
According to Apple, the M6 chip includes a 12-core CPU featuring the world's fastest CPU core and a 12-core GPU that provides up to 30% faster graphics and up to 25% quicker AI tasks compared with the M5 chip.
The firm claims the M6 offers up to 13 times the LLM prompt-processing speed of the M1 MacBook Pro and up to 1.3 times faster performance than the M5 model.
The MacBook Pro with M6 begins with 16 GB of unified memory, configurable to 32 GB, and a memory bandwidth of up to 170 GB/s, higher than the 153 GB/s of the M5.
Ports include HDMI, MagSafe 3, three Thunderbolt 4 connectors, an SDXC card slot and a headphone jack, while a 12-megapixel camera remains standard.
Fast charging is supported, reaching roughly 50% charge in 30 minutes when paired with a suitable high-wattage USB-C power adapter.
The M6-powered iMac also receives a faster CPU and GPU, with Neural Accelerators in every core. Apple says the chip enables smooth multitasking and strong performance for everyday apps, photo editing and video production.
The iMac starts at $1,499 and is available in blue, green, pink, yellow, purple, orange and silver.
Apple notes the new iMac delivers up to five times faster on-device AI performance than the M4 model, featuring a 24-inch 4.5K Retina display, advanced camera and audio system, up to four Thunderbolt 4 ports, color-matched accessories and macOS 27.
Both the MacBook Pro and iMac can be preordered from October 28 and will ship starting November 6.
