Pakistan's premium motorcycle market may shift as Buraq Automobile intends to set up a domestic assembly facility for high-displacement Italian and Chinese bikes, which could trim prices by hundreds of thousands of rupees.

CEO Mobeen Ahmed announced the plant should be operational by December, with the first motorcycles rolling off the line in January 2027. The firm currently imports and sells Benelli, Moto Morini and QJMOTOR models.

In the initial phase, Moto Morini will be the focus, beginning with the Alltrhike 450 adventure motorcycle, followed by a 300cc version. The company also intends to assemble another foreign brand, whose name has not been disclosed.

Local assembly is expected to lower costs by cutting import duties. Ahmed gave the Alltrhike 450 as an example, saying its price could drop from Rs. 26 lakh as a fully imported bike to a tentative Rs. 19.95 lakh after local assembly, a reduction of roughly 23%.

Further price cuts could occur if the government approves a proposed auto policy that would reduce duties on completely knocked-down (CKD) motorcycle kits. Ahmed said any extra duty relief would be passed on to customers.

Buraq Automobile also plans to launch locally assembled electronic fuel injection (EFI) motorcycles. Ahmed believes the improved fuel economy, acceleration and power will attract buyers, even though EFI repair facilities are limited in Pakistan.
