The International Cricket Council (ICC) fined Pakistan 5% of its match fee after the side fell one over short of the required rate in the ODI Tri-Series final against Sri Lanka at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
ICC officials said the shortfall was calculated after time allowances, and match referee Jeff Crowe applied the sanction under Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct, which imposes a 5% fine for each over missed.
On-field umpires Ahsan Raza and Wayne Knights, third umpire Sharfuddoula Ibne Shahid and fourth umpire Rashid Riaz lodged the charge. Pakistan captain Shaheen Shah Afridi admitted guilt and accepted the penalty.
This is the team's second over-rate breach in the tournament; they earlier received a 10% match-fee fine for falling two overs short in the opening match against Sri Lanka in Rawalpindi on October 18.
Pakistan still secured the Tri-Series trophy, beating Sri Lanka by three wickets while chasing 326 with nine balls to spare.
The chase began poorly, with Maaz Sadaqat out for five and Babar Azam dismissed for a duck at 14 runs. Fakhar Zaman and Saad Baig steadied the innings with a 149-run third-wicket partnership.
Fakhar notched his 12th ODI century, making 127 off 99 balls with 11 fours and six sixes, and Saad added 74 off 75 deliveries.
Arafat Minhas later accelerated the run chase, scoring 61 off 31 balls and sharing a 94-run sixth-wicket stand with unbeaten Hasan Nawaz, who made 37. Shaheen ended the game with a six as Pakistan posted 331/7 in 48.3 overs.
Sri Lanka had set 325/8 in 50 overs, powered by Kamindu Mendis's 131 off 128 balls and Pavan Rathnayake's 77 off 65 deliveries. Shaheen, Naseem Shah, Haris Rauf and Salman Ali Agha each claimed two wickets for the hosts.
