Instagram has rolled out its television application for Apple TV, introducing live streams, Reels, and additional video content to a new large-screen device. This expansion provides individuals with an alternative method for viewing Instagram videos outside of tablets and smartphones.

Testing for a television-oriented iteration of Instagram initially began by the firm in December of last year, built to simplify viewing short videos and other media on bigger displays. Several updates arrived in June for the software, which already works with Google TV, Amazon Fire TV, and Samsung Smart TVs.

Despite this rollout, Meta shared minimal publicity regarding the Apple TV release, which surfaced when the App Store entry for Instagram included Apple TV among its compatible hardware. Past snapshots of the software listing from October 18 listed support exclusively for iPad and iPhone.

This wider availability may factor into the video plans of Instagram. As microdramas rise in popularity, the business places a growing emphasis on episodic and longer-form media, meaning the presence on additional television systems connects Meta with audiences favoring large displays.
