Dr. Rizwan Sabir, serving as deputy director and National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency Multan in-charge, gained widespread attention following an unusual slip of the tongue while speaking to reporters regarding online anti-state content surveillance.

During answers concerning agency measures to regulate digital anti-state material, Sabir mistakenly called the Cyber Patrol Unit "Cyber Petroleum" multiple times.

The error occurred twice as he described the unit function tracking internet platforms. Sabir stated the division formed to watch "what is going on social media" continuously twenty-four hours a day.

Internet users shared the comments widely, raising doubts about the official credentials and media handling skills after the repeated verbal slip.

This event happens while the NCCIA launches cyber patrol and surveillance branches throughout Pakistan, featuring Multan, following a strict approach against disinformation, digital abuse, and anti-state messaging.

Directed by Director General Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, such teams function through local zones to constantly watch digital networks and internet areas. Their declared purpose involves detecting false news, specific online operations, and anti-state material.

The agency broadened surveillance operations to follow potentially dangerous internet behavior and act against breaches.
