The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) detained 47 individuals on Wednesday after raiding an illegal call centre on Sharea Faisal in Karachi, accusing them of defrauding foreign nationals. A court later ordered their remand in NCCIA custody for three days.

The operation targeted a centre on the fourth floor of Technology Park. NCCIA said the suspects allegedly extracted banking details from foreign victims via deceptive calls and then misused that financial information.

Five additional suspects are still at large, and a case has been filed against all 52 alleged participants under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act.

During the search and seizure, officials recovered 50 laptops, 26 mobile phones, one desktop computer, other digital gadgets and assorted documents.

Investigating officer Ameer Ali presented the 47 accused in the spoofing and credit-card data theft case before Judicial Magistrate (East) Gulraiz Memon, requesting a 14-day custody period for further questioning.

In his remand petition, he argued that detention was needed to uncover the modus operandi, organisational structure, financial routes and digital infrastructure behind the crimes. The magistrate approved NCCIA custody for three days.

In a separate proceeding, the same court placed 12 individuals on judicial remand, charging them with producing explicit animations featuring child characters and selling them to foreign clients.
