Mojang released Minecraft Bedrock Edition update 26.60 on October 27, delivering more than 600 bug fixes, experimental cold-weather features and a native launch for Nintendo Switch 2.
Native Nintendo Switch 2 Release & Chilling Experimental Features
Switch 2 owners can now run Minecraft directly on the console, receiving the "Vibrant Visuals" graphical refresh from day one. Players who already own the digital version may claim a free Switch 2 upgrade until the end of January 2027 in most regions. The port also improves split-screen multiplayer performance and resolves a bug that displayed UI elements in world preview images.
Update 26.60 grants early access to the fourth Minecraft drop of 2026, introducing the Ice Cave biome. These caves generate beneath colder Overworld zones and are made mainly of Packed Ice and Calcite, featuring glowing Ice Crystals and falling Icicles.
A new hostile mob, the Frostbite, appears in these caves. This cold-weather zombie variant hurls Ice Balls from a distance and applies a Freezing effect up close, causing the player to shake, lose jump height and eventually take severe damage. Wearing Leather Armor fully prevents the freezing damage.
Minecraft Bedrock Update 26.60 Brings Crucial Gameplay Improvements
The patch includes exactly 89 community-reported fixes plus hundreds of background tweaks, making everyday gameplay smoother. Shulkers now behave like their Java Edition versions, allowing pistons and moving blocks to push them. Trapdoors gain snappable placement, letting players hold the placement button to align consecutive trapdoors in the same direction.
Developers also resolved a common issue where touching water unintentionally disabled sneaking, and placing a Bundle inside a Double Chest no longer causes items to disappear. Realms users receive faster, more reliable upload and download speeds, and the redesigned member screen lets players invite others directly without first adding them as Xbox friends.
Only the major additions are highlighted here; the full patch notes and all 600 fixes are available in Minecraft's official announcement.
