The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is reportedly in talks with Cricket Australia and Cricket West Indies to organise an ODI tri-nation series later this year.
The suggested event would involve Pakistan, Australia and the West Indies, with either Australia or South Africa being eyed as possible hosts.
Negotiations are ongoing and the boards have not yet fixed the schedule or the venue.
This comes after a planned ODI tri-series involving Pakistan, Ireland and Zimbabwe for January 2027 collapsed over commercial problems.
Zimbabwe could not confirm its role in the Pakistan-hosted tournament, leading the PCB to rethink the format. The board has since been working with Cricket Ireland on a new timetable, with the original tri-series likely to be replaced by a bilateral ODI series between Pakistan and Ireland.
A single Test between Pakistan and Ireland was also being explored, but those talks have grown less probable.
The revisions arrive as the PCB seeks more ODI fixtures ahead of the 2027 ICC Men's Cricket World Cup, which will be co-hosted by South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia.
Pakistan is currently hosting England and Sri Lanka in a seven-match ODI tri-series from 18 to 31 October. The competition started in Rawalpindi and moved to Lahore, where the final on 31 October will see Pakistan face Sri Lanka.
Pakistan also has a five-match ODI series against England slated for next summer, and reports indicate talks about a separate five-match series with Bangladesh.
