Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has obtained permission to run the Boeing 787 in Pakistan for the first time, following an inspection by aviation officials.
A delegation headed by Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) Director General Nader Shafi Dar examined the plane at Oslo Airport and gave the go-ahead for its use.
Two More Aircraft to Be Inspected
The second Boeing 787 will undergo inspection at Oslo Airport on Monday, while the third is slated for a check at London Airport on November 20.
Earlier this month, PIA signed a contract with Norwegian group Norse Atlantic for two Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners to boost its long-haul capacity between Pakistan and the United Kingdom.
First Flight on October 31
PIA plans to launch its inaugural Boeing 787 service on October 31. Flight PK-786 will leave London for Islamabad and is expected to arrive with passengers on November 1.
On the same day, the airline will roll out a new uniform for its staff, coinciding with the start of operations using the new aircraft.
Reports say the three Boeing 787s should reinforce PIA's international network and enable better passenger services, while upgrades to the Boeing 777 cabins aim to improve long-haul travel experience.
