Officials in Lahore penalized 1,763 vehicles emitting smoke with a total of Rs. 5.5 million this month as part of a continuous campaign against smog and poor air quality. During this timeframe, personnel confiscated 739 transport units and took off extra cargo from heavy trucks to enforce environmental and traffic laws.
Government inspectors increased checks on business and manufacturing sites throughout the Lahore Division as well. Crews checked 2,018 factories, closing down 41 industrial plants and 146 eateries because they contributed to environmental contamination.
At the same time, workers intervened at 49 spots across the division to stop farmers from burning crop stubble, which heavily drives seasonal air fouling. This enforcement led to filing eight first information reports. Officials additionally collected Rs. 240,000 in penalties from people caught burning agricultural leftovers.
Lahore Commissioner Nauman Yousuf released these statistics during a session he led to evaluate current anti-smog efforts. The regulatory campaign targets smoky transport, factory emissions, heavy trucks, and farm waste burning throughout the entire division.
