The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) removed two travellers from Allama Iqbal International Airport in Lahore after discovering counterfeit Netherlands visit visas in their passports.

According to an FIA handout released on Sunday, Qaiser Munir and Ali Hassan were booked on a Qatar Airways flight when immigration officials flagged the visas as forged during routine checks.

Preliminary inquiry showed both men had agreed to pay Rs4 million each to an agent named Chaudhry Adnan Akmal Warraich, a resident of Gujrat, for the documents. Each passenger had already transferred Rs2 million to the agent's bank account.

Proof of the transfers was retrieved from the mobile phone of one of the travellers. FIA Immigration Lahore then transferred both individuals to the FIA Anti-Human Trafficking Circle in Lahore for further action.

The agency said it will keep targeting agents involved in counterfeit visas, illegal migration and human trafficking, noting such actors harm the reputation of the country and create problems for legitimate travellers.
