Lahore traffic police started filing First Information Reports against drivers putting unauthorized green number plates, blue lights, and police flashers on private cars, moving away from simple fines for these offenses.
This step comes after instructions from Lahore Chief Traffic Officer Syed Abdul Raheem Sherazi, demanding tough action regarding illegal number plates and emergency lights. DSP Muhammad Ashfaq oversees the drive in Defence Phase V and other sectors.
Law enforcement also cautioned drivers about changing number plates, hiding vehicle identities, reckless driving, dangerous zigzag maneuvers, and drifting. Officers file cases against motorists who do this or endanger lives through major traffic violations.
The enforcement intensified after officers halted a private car featuring illegal green number plates and police flashing lights in Defence Phase V. The motorist stated he was the brother of an assistant director and attempted to use this relation to pressure the personnel.
Based on CTO Sherazi's instructions, officers moved the motorist and car to the station. Defence B police filed a case against him under sections concerning the deception of law enforcement personnel.
