Lahore's artificial intelligence traffic signal project stalled because officials received just Rs10 million this fiscal year, prompting the Traffic Engineering and Planning Agency to ask the Punjab government for more than Rs580 million.
Insiders reported that the chief engineer of TEPA submitted a formal request to the Punjab Housing Department. The approved scheme carries a total price tag exceeding Rs590 million, and its initial pilot stage finished without issues.
The submitted document shows that roughly 30 percent of the work is done, which includes the pilot testing. TEPA put up new pelican signals at multiple spots like Adda Plot and Jati Umra Chowk.
Automated vehicle video detection equipment will be deployed at all other locations.
Agency officials pressed the administration to disburse the entire sum during the ongoing fiscal year to finish the installation on schedule and better manage urban traffic through technology.
