Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said the Kashmir Chowk Underpass in Islamabad has reached its final phase, with 78% of the work finished in just 20 days during his site visit.
He examined the construction speed and instructed the responsible agencies to finish the remaining tasks promptly, keeping the project on schedule.
Officials informed the minister that the underpass is expected to be completed within the agreed 30-day window. They reported rapid progress on horticulture, road work and asphalt, and noted that light poles and fixtures are being installed.
The minister also asked officials to enhance the underpass area with landscaping and decorative lighting, adding that 6,000 trees will be planted around the site to increase greenery and appeal.
Naqvi stated the underpass will greatly ease travel for those heading to Murree and Muzaffarabad and will simplify commuting between Rawalpindi and Islamabad. He also mentioned measures being taken to reduce traffic jams on the Islamabad Expressway.
