The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) announced it will implement traffic management steps around schools and other educational facilities in its area to cut congestion and boost safety for students.
As part of the scheme, the agency will mark separate drop-off and pick-up lanes outside schools, allowing vehicles to stop without obstructing main-road traffic.
The LDA director general has instructed staff to clear any encroachments that narrow roads and disrupt flow, especially during peak periods.
Additional actions include installing zebra crossings for children and putting up traffic signboards to give clearer directions to drivers.
The program will also involve pinpointing traffic issues near schools and taking steps to improve vehicle movement while protecting pupils. The goal is to lessen jams at arrival and departure times and make nearby roads safer for children and other road users.
