Travelers seeking winter sun can visit Agadir, Morocco, where temperatures range between 26C and 29C, reachable via a four-hour flight from the UK with return tickets priced from £43. Positioned on the southwestern coast against the Anti-Atlas mountains, the city offers golden beaches and upcoming resort developments.

Visitors can explore three local markets, including Souk El Had, the largest market in the city featuring 13 entrance gates and between 3,000 and 6,000 shops and stalls offering spices, leather goods, fresh fruit, and crafted items. Another option is La Medina d'Agadir, functioning as a craft village containing workshops and smaller shops.

Tourists can take a cable car up to the Agadir Oufella Kasbah to see 16th-century hilltop ruins and views of the city and marina. The area features a six-mile stretch known as Plage d'Agadir, offering golden sand alongside a promenade filled with shops, cafes, and palm trees.

Outdoor enthusiasts can arrange half-day or full-day excursions into the Atlas Mountains to view limestone canyons and natural rock pools. North of the city lies Taghazout Bay, a fishing and surfing village providing quiet locations with fresh seafood.

Deputy Travel Editor Kara Godfrey described the destination after visiting, stating, "The Moroccan city is home to the country's largest market, Souk El Had, as well as a bustling harbour and modern marina." She added, "Rebuilt following a devastating earthquake in 1960, the sprawling city nestles against the Atlantic Ocean and its palm-lined wide roads feel more Miami than Morocco." Regarding Taghazout Beach, she noted, "At Taghazout Beach, hordes of eager surfers took to the sea before I'd even finished my morning coffee." She also mentioned, "As a novice surfer, I opted to watch those riding the waves, while my companion made friends with the stray dogs and hawkers selling Moroccan breads."

A new TUI Magic Life all-inclusive beachfront property will open in Agadir during the summer next year. The new accommodation will include over 400 rooms, three restaurants, four bars, and three outdoor swimming pools. For those unable to travel immediately, the destination experiences approximately 300 days of sunshine annually.
