Peshawar Traffic Police Crackdown Targets 3,301 Violators

City Traffic Police Peshawar has fined 3,301 people for using unregistered vehicles, black-tinted windows, flashing lights and fancy number plates during enforcement operations across the city.

This major enforcement drive reflects ongoing efforts by law enforcement agencies to maintain public order and road safety in the region. Motorists across the city faced strict checks as officers targeted specific non-compliant vehicle modifications and documentation issues.

How the Traffic Enforcement Operation Was Conducted

According to a police press release, the department launched the crackdown on the directions of Chief Traffic Officer Dr. Zahidullah and established checkpoints in different sectors of Peshawar.

These strategic checkpoints allowed traffic personnel to monitor vehicle compliance closely during peak hours and regular transit times. Officers stopped vehicles suspected of carrying unauthorized modifications or lacking proper registration documents to issue fines on the spot.

Breakdown of Traffic Violations in Peshawar

Traffic officials took action against 1,601 people for using black-tinted windows, 203 for installing flashing lights, 1,201 for driving unregistered vehicles and 296 for displaying fancy number plates.

The high number of penalties for black-tinted windows and unregistered vehicles highlights widespread non-compliance regarding vehicle visibility and official documentation. Meanwhile, the action against flashing lights and fancy number plates addresses concerns over unauthorized signals and obscured vehicle identities on public roads.

Removal of Unauthorized Vehicle Modifications

The police also removed unauthorized flashing lights, tinted window films and fancy number plates from vehicles and imposed fines on those violating traffic regulations.

Physical removal of these items ensures that motorists cannot simply pay a fine and continue driving with illegal modifications. Roadside intervention teams stripped away the tinted films and non-standard plates directly at the checkpoints.

Official Stance on Traffic Rule Enforcement

Chief Traffic Officer Dr. Zahidullah said traffic personnel would continue enforcing the law and take legal action against violators without discrimination. He urged residents to follow traffic rules and cooperate with traffic police, stressing that the law applies equally to everyone.

Department officials indicated that monitoring will persist across various sectors to deter future violations. Citizens are advised to ensure their vehicles comply with standard registration and window regulations to avoid penalties.
