The Establishment Division has moved to take disciplinary action against government officers who have failed to declare their dual nationality, seeking the prime minister's approval to initiate proceedings against them.

Sources say the division forwarded a summary to the Prime Minister's Office asking for permission to act against officers in Grades 20, 21 and 22 who have not filed the required declarations.

Those found guilty of misconduct could face penalties such as withholding promotion, compulsory retirement or dismissal. Show-cause notices will be issued once the prime minister signs off.

Most Officers Have Yet to Submit Declarations

Out of the 2,917 government officers covered, 62.5 percent have not submitted any dual-nationality declaration. Of the officers who did submit, only 8.68 percent reported holding foreign nationality.

The non-filing officers are from Grades 20, 21 and 22 and belong to the Pakistan Administrative Service, Police Service of Pakistan, Secretariat Group and Office Management Group.

The initiative aims to address the lack of declarations and start proceedings against those who violate the rule.
