Sindh Launches Khidmat-e-Sindh App for Citizen Complaints
Sindh Governor Syed Muhammad Nihal Hashmi has formally launched the Khidmat-e-Sindh App, a digital platform designed to facilitate citizens in registering complaints and seeking solutions to their problems through government departments.
The introduction of this digital tool represents a major shift in how public sector organizations interact with the public. By moving traditional paper-based grievance systems onto mobile devices, the provincial administration aims to streamline communication between residents and government officials.
How the Khidmat-e-Sindh App Connects Citizens to Departments
Speaking at the launch ceremony, the governor said that 65 federal and provincial government departments had been connected to the application, enabling citizens to submit their complaints to the relevant authorities directly through their mobile phones without visiting government offices.
This integration bridges a long-standing gap between administrative bodies and the general population. Residents no longer need to spend time and money traveling to various bureaucratic offices to report localized issues or administrative failures.
Objectives of Accountability and Timely Resolution
He said the primary objective of the initiative was to ensure the timely resolution of public grievances and make government institutions more accountable to citizens.
Bureaucratic red tape has historically delayed the processing of everyday complaints in the region. The new application introduces digital tracking mechanisms that place direct responsibility on departmental heads to address reported matters within acceptable timeframes.
Tracking Progress and Inter-Departmental Collaboration
The governor added that the concerned departments would be responsible for addressing complaints received through the application, while users would also be able to track the status and progress of their submissions online.
He said all relevant departments had worked together as a single unit to develop the application and make the initiative successful. This cooperative approach ensures that technical bottlenecks between different bureaucratic branches are minimized before reaching the end user.
Types of Issues Handled by the Platform
During a briefing, Principal Secretary to the Governor Dr Syed Saifur Rehman said citizens would be able to register complaints related to various issues, including crime, sanitation and other public services.
Covering a broad spectrum of civic life, the platform addresses both municipal upkeep and security concerns. Sanitation problems have plagued many neighborhoods, while residents frequently seek direct channels to report criminal activities or slow police responses.
Broader Remarks on National Development and Civic Duty
Responding to a question from the media, Governor Nihal Hashmi said Pakistan had come into existence through the free will and voting power of its people.
He added that no one from outside would come to bring progress and prosperity to the country, stressing that citizens must work together to achieve development and improve the overall situation. His remarks emphasized self-reliance and active civic participation as essential components of national growth.
