Activision revealed plans for the upcoming release of Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4 Season 1, scheduled to arrive on November 6. The free update is available to all current game owners. The initial game launch featured a full campaign, one large DMZ map, 12 core 6v6 maps, and 16 unique game modes, with this new release expanding the title by about 50% over the coming months.

Modern Warfare 4 Season 1 Brings New Multiplayer Maps & Modes

A recent two-minute teaser trailer from Activision showcases three new multiplayer maps available on launch day. Users can play Canyon, Shoot House, and Backstab. Shoot House first appeared in the 2019 reboot and later entries, while Backstab appears to recreate the Call of Duty 2 map Burgundy.

Developers intend to launch more than six maps before the season concludes. Ministry and Overflow release later, alongside several secret maps marked as classified. The Kill Block mode also gains a special Crash variant during the season.

Expanding DMZ & Classic Modes

The extraction mode receives a major addition with the XO1 DMZ map in Season 1. This new area is much smaller than the default Hajin map, featuring a compact interior designed for intense player versus player combat. Users will also find new equipment, in-game events, and XO1-specific DMZ Orders.

Several fresh and returning game modes debut shortly. Infected and Possession arrive soon for Halloween, followed by Grind, Drop Zone, and a 1v1 Gauntlet variation at the Season 1 launch. A new Battle Pass also arrives, featuring two Operators named Blix and XERO, two Apex Attachments, and three ranged weapons.
