Hundreds of thousands of identity cards were revoked by Pakistan over a five-year period after investigators found holders acquired them fraudulently, the Ministry of Interior disclosed in the National Assembly.

Data provided by the ministry showed 255,139 CNIC cancellations occurring in 2026, marking a massive spike compared to prior years. Statistics indicated that 8,500 identity cards were voided in 2024, alongside 624 in 2025, 117 in 2023, and 62 in 2022.

According to the Ministry of Interior, Afghan citizens acquired Pakistani Computerized National Identity Cards using forgery and deception.

Authorities invalidated these identification documents after confirming officials uncovered their fraudulent origins.
